For our October session, we will be hosting Nader Pouratian and Aryn Gittis on Thursday, the 31st.

Nader Pouratian, M.D., Ph.D., is a Professor and Chair of Neurological Surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. His research and clinical practice intertwine to develop and apply novel neurotechnologies. He will present a lecture along with his co-investigator, Aryn Gittis, titled “Optogenetically-inspired pallidal burst stimulation for Parkinson’s disease: From models to human translation.”

Aryn Gittis, Ph.D., is a Professor at the School of Biological Sciences, Carnegie Mellon University. She runs the Gittis Lab, where the primary research focus is understanding how the organization of neural circuits in the basal ganglia shapes movement in health and disease. She will present her research talk, along with her co-investigator, Nader Pouratian, titled “Optogenetically-inspired pallidal burst stimulation for Parkinson’s disease: From models to human translation.”
